Our mission is to deliver essential lifesaving tools that will assist our STARZ in making healthier life choices during their transitional stage of development. STAR Girlz is dedicated to the positive development of female youth around the world and we are here to aid in the production of making their futures shine bright like a STAR.

Our vision is to equip our young ladies for society, future education endeavors and personal change. We want to assist them in identifying personal struggles and healthy ways to navigate through any objective and circumstance they face in life.


Shalonda Haggerty is an inspirational, visionary leader showcasing her passion for youth and families through the formation of STAR Girlz Empowerment, Inc., where she serves as the Executive Director. Mrs. Haggerty holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Jarvis Christian College, and will be graduating April 2018 from Argosy University Denver with a Masters of Art degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. In addition to graduate school, Shalonda is completing a certification program with the Colorado School for Family Therapy to become a registered play therapist and child and adolescent counselor.

Over the course of her career, Mrs. Haggerty has effectively mentored, empowered, and transformed the lives of over 350 female youth and their families in her community. As a committed educational leader, youth sports coach volunteer, and church youth leader, her proudest moments include: being a mentor and sharing in the success of young girls who need it the most, and creating the B.L.I.N.G back to school summit for female youth, Shalonda is the mastermind behind the creation of STAR Girlz Empowerment, Inc. It was created in 2014, after Mrs. Haggerty personal life experiences were reflected on and issues that she struggled with as a youth were identified. This creation was launched into the community in August 2016 through the introduction of the B.L.I.N.G back to school empowerment summit.

Since relocating from Texas (Dallas) to Colorado (Commerce City), Mrs. Haggerty has begun to fulfill her vision in making a difference within the community. She is recently recognized in the community as a 2018 recipient of the African Americans who Make a Difference award and has also received the 2017 Urban Leadership Foundation Alumni making a difference award. She continues to make an impact in the community through her creative work with events such as My Education is My Hustle college summit and tour, and her involvement in the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy organization.

Shelia Jackson Cook is the Chief Executive Officer of CookJack Enterprise & Productions, LLC. This a multi-faceted Woman Owned Business that is taking the business community by storm. Her business has multiple streams of income that produces an ocean of opportunity for those that desire to reach their full dream potential.

Shelia is also a dynamic motivational speaker that is empowering women around the world through her Women Connect Network. She has a passion to empower women to do business on a global scale and fulfill their dreams. Shelia is also the vice-president of the Bluegrass Community Development Corporation, a non-profit organization that is making a major impact in the urban areas of Louisville, Kentucky. Through here visionary leadership she has developed social and economic programs that empower people to reach their full dream potential.

Shelia mentors youth and young adults through her Next Generation Millionaires Mentoring Program which empowers the mentees to find their purpose, release their potential and walk in their God-given prosperity that is available to them. Shelia resides in Prospect, Kentucky with her husband Dr. Shannon C. Cook and their

beautiful daughter Lauren Faith Cook.

Devon, author of Ladies Set Apart and Alive in a Dead Relationship (, is a native of Louisville, KY, and has earned her Bachelors of Science in Marketing at the University of Louisville. She went on to further her education and received her Masters of Business Administration at Sullivan University. She gained a great deal of her experience volunteering at a non-profit organization, Shannon C. Cook Ministries, as Chief Financial Officer, for three years and Human Resource Director for two years.


With over 10 years of marketing experience, she has worked as a Marketing Consultant with clients to assist them in gaining brand recognition, optimize marketing automation/leads through social media and support marketing goals just to name a few. She has volunteered, performed empowerment speaking engagements, and mentored youth for several organizations, in the Louisville, KY area. Her professional career outside of this includes being a writing and editing consultant. An important aspect of her life is developing women especially young women into the person they were predestined to become

Victoria Bryant-Secretary - Victoria provides administrative support to the STAR Girlz Empowerment, Inc. team. Victoria is a native of Dallas, Texas and has worked in the nonprofit community in Texas as a mentor, case manager and coordinator throughout the last 8 years. She received a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Texas at Dallas with focus on counseling. 


She also received a MA in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin. Victoria developed a strong sense of devotion for the community as the owner of a youth tutoring program, LIKE Tutoring, for the last five years. Victoria is currently an educator in the charter school district, where she is fostering the development of scholars daily. This experience gave her a deep appreciation for the adolescent community and how to improve the quality of life; one child at a time.

Monica Crawford-Davis – Treasurer An innovative educator for 18 years, she is currently an early college high school advisor/counselor and Texas Education Agency ECHS trainer. She is an ordained minister as well. Monica has worked with STAR Girlz for three years as the treasurer.
